A new Prime Minister was elected in Antigua in March 2004. Peter and Paul, of the Sand Haven, went back to Great Britain. Leslie and Graham left the island for an unknown destination. Sylvester died. Ix-the-Dog disappeared.
Denroy is still faithfully at his post. He has even been able to buy a small boat, the Seaskaar Explorer, in which he takes tourists for trips or fishing. If you pass through Antigua, ask for Captain Denroy from me at the Coconut Grove… or anywhere in Antigua: everybody there knows him.
It was only on 25 October 2006 that I was able to lay on my parents’ grave the conch shell he had given me ten years earlier…
