Lands of exile

“But you cannot stop a prisoner from drawing his cage.”

Of all my lands of exile, there are two I shall never be able to forget.

Two tiny lands, barely a few square meters, two islets where the inhabitants learn what absolute despair is.

I mean my cells.

Above all the one at Gradignan, the first, the terrible 124. Afterward I got used to the others; they seemed so comfortable…

Photographs, of course, were forbidden there. But you cannot stop a prisoner from drawing his cage.

Here, then, are my drawings of cell 124, so that everyone can see in what conditions France imprisons, without trial, those who dare to fight for freedom of therapeutic choice.
